Helping to Encourage the Development of Your Child
There is a huge push in this country to get kids into school at a younger age to give them a head start in school. This preschool initiative, sounds like a good plan, however schooling and reading and writing are just a few of the basics in your child’s development.
Child development actually begins at birth. Your child manages to learn what they need to learn, without you teaching them to lift their heads, crawl around, and all the other developmental markers. Somehow, they manage to figure it all out just by watching and listening.
Schooling is of course very important to your child’s development, but it seems to be that the more time that children spend in school the less that they are actually learning, so perhaps it is time to look back at development and see, are children really getting a better education just because we are pushing them harder?
If you are concerned about your child’s development, then there are things that you can do at home to improve their ability to learn while having fun. Using educational toys and games to help your child advance their learning in areas like math and reading have proven very successful. Many toys and games have been developed to help your child develop their mind and body and playing age appropriate games with your children can make a big difference in their lives. After all, not only does this help their development, but the interaction with their parents, also helps them develop social skills, while strengthening the family bond.
It is important to remember that if you do have concerns about your child’s health or well being then you should check in with a child psychologist or pediatrician and express your concerns. Creating a happy and well adjusted child can be work, but it is definitely the most important work you will do. When you are unsure, don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek help. Good parents don’t have all the answers; they just know how to get answers to the tough questions.
